Greek Languages in Schools of Georgia

 

In cooperation with the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in Georgia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, the Institute has been running a program “Greek Languages in the Schools of Georgia” since 1996. At various times, from 18 to 20 schools in Tbilisi, Tsalka, Kakhuri, Akhaltsikhe, South Georgia and Batumi were involved in the program. The teachers are the graduates of the Institute, who use texts books compiled by the academics of the Institute (Sophie Shamanidi, Maka Kamushadze, Tamar Bakuradze) to teach a full school course of modern Greek to Georgian pupils as well as to Pontic Greeks leaving in Georgia.
