Call for Papers
“The Ancient and Byzantine World in the Light of Interdisciplinary Research”

The Institute of Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies is pleased to announce the international conference “The Ancient and Byzantine World in the Light of Interdisciplinary Research” which is taking place from September 22nd to 24th 2021 at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
The conference is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Grigol Tsereteli, the renowned Georgian Classical Philologist, Byzantinist and Papyrologist as well as to 100th anniversary of the Department of Classical Philology founded by Grigol Tsereteli at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State Universtity (The Conference has been postponed due to Covid 19 Pandemic).
The conference will run parallel sessions devoted to: (i) Topical Issues of Ancient and Byzantine Studies; (ii) The Ancient and Byzantine World and the Modern Age; (iii) The Ancient and Byzantine World and Georgia; (iv) Digital Technologies in Ancient and Byzantine Studies.
The conference will be accompanied by different cultural events.
Please note that the organizers are not inviting proposals for plenary papers or individual lectures. Papers will be twenty minutes, to be followed by a ten‐minute discussion, in English, German, French, Modern Greek and Georgian.
Abstracts of no more than 250 words should be submitted by 30 December, 2020. Please submit abstracts as a Word document attached to the following e-mail: email@example.com. Selection process will be over by 30 January, 2021.
Registration fee: 100 €.
The accommodation options will be provided by the Organizing Committee.
The conference programme will be prepared for publishing by July 2021.
Submitted papers for publication will go into a peer review process; selected papers will be published in the annual Phasis. Greek and Roman Studies, Institute of Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The deadline for submission a paper for publication is 30 December, 2021.
